Nearly 20 years after the last installment, the iconic Scary Movie franchise is officially making a comeback. The original creators are the Wayans brothers: Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans. They are returning to write, direct, and produce the reboot. They promise to bring back the sharp satire and fresh laughs that launched the series.
A Fresh Yet Nostalgic Return

Production and Release
Filming is set to begin in October 2025 under the production leadership of Rick Alvarez. The movie is scheduled for a global theatrical release on June 12, 2026. Paramount Pictures distributes the movie. They collaborated with Miramax, which produced the original films. Marlon Wayans has enthusiastically encouraged fans to “mark your calendars,” promising a hilarious return to the series’ roots.
