HBO Max is doubling down on indie cinema. The streamer and acclaimed studio A24 have renewed their multi‑year U.S. deal. The agreement keeps A24 films exclusive to HBO and HBO Max in the Pay‑1 window. It also adds a rotating library of dozens of titles for subscribers to stream.

A24 films stay exclusive on HBO Max

Under the renewed agreement, new A24 releases will premiere on HBO and HBO Max. This occurs after their theatrical and PVOD runs. Subscribers will be able to stream a curated library of past hits throughout the life of the deal. The decision follows a strong initial run. In 2025, half of A24’s Pay‑1 films ranked in HBO Max’s top 10 movies within their first two weeks. Additionally, nearly 70% of viewers who watched one A24 title came back for more, averaging four films each.

“HBO Max and A24 are a natural fit,” said Royce Battleman, EVP of Global Content Acquisitions. “Their bold storytelling and passionate fanbase perfectly complement our distinct programming.”

Upcoming A24 highlights on HBO Max

As part of the renewed pact, HBO Max subscribers will be able to stream buzzy new A24 films as they enter the Pay‑1 window, including:

  • The Backrooms – starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass and more
  • The Death of Robin Hood – starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer
  • The Drama – starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson
  • Enemies – starring Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler
  • How to Make a Killing – starring Glen Powell
  • Marty Supreme (Golden Globe winner) – starring Timothée Chalamet, Odessa A’zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler Okonma and more
  • The Moment – starring Charli xcx
  • Pillion – starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling
  • Primetime – starring Robert Pattinson

Additional A24 titles will be announced as release dates are set.

A24 alongside HBO Max’s wider movie slate

The renewed A24 partnership plugs into an already stacked HBO Max movie offering that includes Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Turner Classic Movies, Studio Ghibli and more. Subscribers can jump from recent awards players like Golden Globe winners “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners.” They can also enjoy horror favorites such as “It,” “The Conjuring,” and “Final Destination.” This variety makes HBO Max a one‑stop destination for blockbusters, cult indies, and everything in between.
