The HBO Original five-part sports documentary series U.S. AGAINST THE WORLD: FOUR YEARS WITH THE MEN’S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM is produced by Park Stories. It debuts TUESDAY, MAY 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Subsequent episodes will debut Tuesdays at the same time.
Synopsis
U.S. AGAINST THE WORLD: FOUR YEARS WITH THE MEN’S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM captures a unique story. It exclusively chronicles the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT). It highlights their journey in the leadup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America this June. The filming took place over four years. The series follows Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Tim Weah, Weston McKennie, and a wide array of U.S. players on their personal and collective journeys toward the sport’s signature global event.
Cameras begin with never-before-seen footage of the USMNT at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. They follow the team through training camps and international matches. Cameras capture intimate off-the-field moments at home and abroad. The series also documents the 2024 transition. It moves from former head coach Gregg Berhalter to current head coach Mauricio Pochettino. This is a pivotal change. It resets strategy and recalibrates the group. As June 2026 approaches, attention shifts to players battling for spots on the World Cup roster. There is also pressure on Pochettino and his staff to deliver a historic performance on home soil.
