Prime Video will launch the highly anticipated crime thriller Pimpinero: Blood and Oil exclusively on November 22, 2024. It will reach audiences in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The film made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It has been featured at renowned festivals. Some of these festivals include the Rio International Film Festival and the Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia. They also include the Cine Latino Film Festival and the New York Latino Film Festival.
Synopsis
Set in the harsh desert borderlands between Colombia and Venezuela, Pimpinero: Blood and Oil unfolds in a challenging environment. The narrative focuses on “pimpineros,” who are gasoline smugglers leading perilous lives. They risk everything to transport illegal fuel across these volatile regions. The story centers on Juan (Alejandro Speitzer), the youngest of three brothers entrenched in this dangerous trade. Juan’s girlfriend Diana (Laura Osma) is forced to work for a ruthless rival. She embarks on a fierce mission. Her goal is to uncover the dark secrets lurking in this lawless no-man’s land.
The film blends action, drama, and romance. It delves into themes of borders, morality, and familial bonds, portraying a gripping tale of survival and loyalty.
Cast and Crew
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face), the film features a remarkable cast. The cast includes Alberto Guerra (Griselda). Alejandro Speitzer (La Cabeza de Joaquín Murrieta) is also part of the cast. Additionally, there is Laura Osma (Goles en Contra). Finally, Grammy® winner Juanes appears in a rare acting role.
The screenplay is co-written by María Camila Arias and Andrés Baiz. The production is led by Dynamo with producers Andrés Calderón and associate producer Cyndi Rojas.
