4. What is your role in the Short film “The Socialists of Shoe City”?
I provided my song “Shoe City.” I wrote and composed it 35 years ago about my family’s migration to Havehill. They came from Ireland and Quebec. The song reflects their experiences working in the shoe mills of Haverhil. I work for a short time in the shoe mills of Haverhill. I finally recorded Shoe City in 2022 and it’s on my Nor’easta album that i released in 2022.

Phil’s project sounded intriguing. He asked if I would allow my song “Shoe City” to be a part of his film.
6. Can you speak further about this project?
Yes. It is an important subject especially in this time of political and social division. The term Socialism has been used as a scare tactic by the American Industrial Complex since forever. It was always used stamp down on workers rights and income. The scare tactics continue. Using these scare tactics have been around in my history my whole life. It is an important story. It highlights the hardworking immigrants and citizens of Haverhill, Massachusetts and the Merrimack River Valley.
