COMICON Napoli celebrates its 25th edition from 1 to 4 May 2025 at the Mostra d’Oltremare, with one of the world’s largest cross‑media festivals dedicated to pop culture, featuring over 400 exhibitors, 600 events and more than 450 guests from three continents. The OFF program will also expand across the city, confirming COMICON’s role as a major urban cultural driver.
The official poster is created by British artist Jamie Hewlett, best known as co‑creator of the virtual band Gorillaz. This year’s Magister is Italian comics and illustration master Tanino Liberatore, celebrated with the exhibition DRAWING POWER. The art of Liberatore, alongside a dedicated show for comics artist Massimo Carnevale.
The festival opens with a special event: singer‑songwriter Max Pezzali will present the fourth volume of the comics series Max Forever, inspired by his songs and written and drawn by writer‑artist Roberto Recchioni, followed by a signing session on 1 May at the Auditorium del Teatro Mediterraneo. Among the guests are popular Italian creators The Jackal, who will premiere season two of their series Pesci Piccoli produced with Mad Entertainment and in collaboration with Prime Video.
Major comics and game design names appearing at COMICON include Tanino Liberatore, Massimo Carnevale, James Harren, Dave McKean, Mike Mason and Jon J. Muth, along with numerous international guests, including two Taiwanese artists visiting Italy for the first time. The program features film premieres, talks with world‑renowned authors, and a special event for the playoffs and Final Eight of the eSerie A Goleador, the official virtual championship of Lega Serie A played exclusively on EA SPORTS FC™ 25.
COMICON will once again present the traditional Premi del Palmarès COMICON, including 11 competitive categories such as the Italian comics Premi Micheluzzi, chaired this year by cartoonist Teresa Radice. To mark the 25th anniversary, the trophies will be completely redesigned in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli. Economically, COMICON represents a major engine for the territory: the 2024 edition generated an estimated impact of 42 million euros on Naples and the metropolitan area, with public investment accounting for less than 4% of the total budget.
