Actor, director, and producer Diego Luna will host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences‘ Scientific and Technical Awards presentation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. During the ceremony, Luna will present 14 achievements that were announced in January, honoring innovations that have made significant contributions to the art and science of filmmaking.
Additionally, an Academy Award of Merit (Oscar statuette) will be presented to collectively recognize “all the individuals who have developed and supported captioning technology, whether open or closed, for film.”
Diego Luna’s career highlights
Luna is currently starring in and executive producing the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award–winning series Andor, reprising his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for the limited series La Máquina (produced by La Corriente del Golfo and others), and his notable film credits include Y Tu Mamá También, Frida and the upcoming Kiss of the Spider Woman.
As a director, Luna has helmed films such as Cesar Chavez and Mr. Pig. He is also co‑founder of the Mexican production company La Corriente del Golfo, which he launched with Gael García Bernal to champion Mexican stories and talent across film, series, podcasts, and theatre.
