Amazon MGM Studios has officially started production on the new Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. They unveiled the first image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. The live-action show reintroduces one of the most iconic characters in video game history. It does so through a new, high-profile television adaptation.
Sophie Turner is the new Lara Croft
The series draws inspiration from the legendary Tomb Raider game franchise. It follows the globe-trotting, high-stakes adventures of archaeologist and explorer Lara Croft.
Sophie Turner leads the cast as Lara, joined by an impressive ensemble that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the helm
The project is driven by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. She shares showrunning duties with Chad Hodge, also executive producer, while Jonathan Van Tulleken directs and executive produces, setting the tone for the series’ visual and narrative style.
Behind the scenes, Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics (the studio behind the game franchise), and Story Kitchen produce the series. Executive producers include Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Dallas Dickinson for Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel, and Legendary Television. Matt McInnis joins as co–executive producer, with Jan R. Martin as producer.
With a prestige creative team, a stacked cast, and a beloved IP, the new Tomb Raider series aims to reintroduce Lara Croft to a global audience on Prime Video.
