Hans Zimmer is officially bringing his magic to the Wizarding World. HBO has announced that Hans Zimmer will compose the new original score.
Bleeding Fingers Music will also contribute to the upcoming HBO Original HARRY POTTER series. The series is debuting in 2027 on HBO and streaming on HBO Max in all available markets. These markets include the recently launched Germany and Italy. It will also be available in the UK and Ireland, where the platform is set to arrive in late March.
Hans Zimmer to score the new Harry Potter HBO series
For the new Harry Potter TV series, HBO is entrusting the music to Hans Zimmer. He will work alongside composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman. They are all part of the Bleeding Fingers collective. The show will offer a decade‑long, faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books. The score is being positioned as a fresh musical chapter and it is still respect the franchise’s iconic themes, moreover, Zimmer, Talve and Rozman described the project as both an honor and a responsibility.
They called the musical legacy of Harry Potter “a touch point for composers everywhere.” They hope to bring audiences “that little bit closer” to the magic as they also aim to honor what has come before in the films’ sound world.

Creative team behind the HBO Harry Potter series
The new HBO Original Harry Potter series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes, working in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
Executive producers also include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley‑Letts for Brontë Film and TV. David Heyman returns for Heyday Films. They are going back to the Wizarding World after producing the original film series. Top‑tier producers are involved in the HBO adaptation.
