Synopsis
In his second HBO comedy special, Peabody winner Julio Torres (HBO’s “Fantasmas” and “Los Espookys”) presents a playful guide. He helps viewers understand the world through his unique interpretations of color. Julio takes the stage in New York City as an “expert” on the inherent traits of specific shades. He moves from the rule-obsessed nature of navy blue to the pure rage of red. He draws on hilarious, sharply observed moments from his own life and from culture at large. This one-of-a-kind special blends stand-up with multimedia elements. It invites viewers to see the people, places, and objects around them through Julio’s kaleidoscopic lens.
About Julio Torres
Julio Torres is an award-winning Brooklyn-based writer, director, and comedian from El Salvador. His work on “Saturday Night Live” earned him four Emmy® nominations and widespread critical praise. His first solo hour was “My Favorite Shapes by Julio Torres.” It premiered as an HBO comedy special in 2019. It received rave reviews. Torres co-created and starred in HBO’s Peabody Award–winning series “Los Espookys.” He worked alongside Fred Armisen and Ana Fabrega in the show. He also wrote and directed “Fantasmas.” He made his feature directorial debut with A24’s “Problemista,” which he wrote and starred in opposite Tilda Swinton. His first book, “I Want to Be a Vase,” was published by Simon & Schuster in 2023.
